Wentworth School is proud to offer a number of clubs and activities for its students. These activities are organized and supervised by staff with volunteer assistance. Parents are responsible for transportation. In some cases a fee is charged.

Wentworth News Team
Wentworth News Team is a club that will provide students the ability to reach their community of peers in a fun and creative way. Students will work on news segments in either video or print formats that will be distributed to the whole school. Students will write, direct and film the news and will be a great opportunity for students to learn the behind the camera techniques. Limit of 20 students.

Yearbook Club
The Wentworth Yearbook Club is a calm, respectful experience where students, with teacher supervision, will be working together to digitally create our schools yearbook for the current school year. Yearbook Club participants must be comfortable with learning new skills, be willing to persevere in tasks, and collaborate with one another. Representatives from each of the Learning Communities will be selected to participate in this after school club, and others that express interest will be invited to participate in other Yearbook related tasks at various points during the year. This club is for 5th graders only.

Ukulele Club
This program is for newcomers and experienced Ukulele players. The ukulele is a wonderful instrument that requires patience and practice to learn. But brings such joy to others. Prerequisites to becoming involved are a sincere interest in exploring the ukulele and a willingness to practice at home regularly. Only space for 20 student.

Chorus Club
The Chorus Club is a performing group for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders who enjoy singing. Students will learn about using correct choral singing techniques, performance techniques, music reading, sight singing, music styles and music history. The choral pieces will include unison and two/three part harmony arrangements. There will be an opportunities for the Chorus to perform at the 3rd/4th grade winter concerts, school assemblies and in the community as well.

World Language Club
World Language Club provides an opportunity for students to experience the French and Spanish languages and cultures. During the 4 week session student will meet twice per week and have an opportunity to practice their new-found listening and speaking skills as they interact with teachers and peers. In addition to the above, students will be exposed to music, videos, and games in the target languages.

Gym Dandies
The Gym Dandies Children’s Circus of Scarborough is the largest continuously operating children’s circus in the United States and has received state and national recognition as an exemplary program for children. The Gym Dandies was a winner of the Maine Governor’s Award for Physical Fitness and Sport “Contest for Communities Award 2000” in the youth category. The Gym Dandies were selected to represent Maine in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C. in 2000, 2004, 2006, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2005 in New York City and The Parade of the National Cherry Blossom Festival 2008 in Washington, D.C.
All Scarborough School Age Children (Home schooled children are welcome) in grades 3 and above may register for this program. No special skills are required to register for the Gym Dandies Circus Arts Program. A willingness to practice is the most important attribute for those who wish to participate.

Homework Club
The Wentworth Homework Club provides a comfortable, welcoming and supportive atmosphere where students can learn study skills, receive tutoring and mentoring to help them be more successful in their homework and feel more confident in their after school academic endeavors. The students who have joined the Club enjoy our relaxed study hall and feel proud of their success in completing daily assignments.
The Club has tutors who help students with their academic needs. Close ties are maintained with home and classroom so we can concentrate on specific student needs. At the same time, we stress self-sufficiency so students can carry their study skills with them into other situations.
K-Kids
K-Kids at Wentworth is a service club sponsored by Scarborough Kiwanis. Members meet after school, with a few during the day commitments. K-Kids seeks to reach out to children around the world and to our own school's population. We raise money annually for UNICEF at Halloween and for Heifer International, an organization dedicated to ending hunger by providing farm livestock and training to needy families in all parts of the world. We support school activities and participate in Kiwanis activities such as the Fishing Derby and Operation Cupid.
Literature Club
The purpose of Literature Club is "To provide a time and space, with a facilitator, whereby students may choose as their extra-curricular activity a group that will focus on the inherent value of reading, discuss and express opinions, and read quality children’s literature." A variety of enrichment strategies and activities are offered.

Digital Photography Club
Students learn how to take digital photographs and are taught how to edit their photographs in imaging software. Students create a collage or photo montage using their manipulated photography. Students are grouped by previous experience. High school mentors join the instructors to share their knowledge and expertise with our emerging photographers. There is a final culminating presentation for parents at the end of each session.

Technology Club
Students will explore new concepts using technology. They will use Tinkercad, Scratch, and Stykz to deepen their knowledge and understanding of coding, animation, and 3D design. Students will be practicing critical thinking, creativity and collaboration in creating a final culminating presentation for parents at the end of their session.

Theatre Arts
Theatre Arts is a program that fosters theatre skills such as: stage presence, creativity, voice projection and elocution. These skills are fostered through improvisational games and skits. Students are able to express themselves appropriately in a fun, cooperative atmosphere. Actors produce and perform a short skit for parents and friends showcasing the core skills of the program.
Theatre Arts is a fulfilled way for students of all abilities to learn and grow together without the pressure and demands of a "big production". We are always impressed with the student's growth and confidence throughout the program from the shy student to the seasoned actor; everyone learns and grows together.
